Pentax Copi-pod copy stand
Photos of a very cute copying gizmo once featured in a 1970's (and
probably later) Pentax Spotmatic accessory catalog. They're
unfortunately not made any more, but they show up on Ebay every now
and then. I got this one at a local camera store for $65 in July
2000. The carrying case shows its age but everything still works
fine.
Update (6/2001): Olympus apparently still makes a similar copy
stand to the Copi-pod, called the "Handy Copy Stand". I haven't seen
one in person but there's some info
here. It's available from B & H Photo
for $108.50.
Copi-pod in leatherette zipper carrying pouch (about 15" long):

Parts of Copi-Pod:
The legs telescope so you can adjust the height. There are
scribe lines on them for some standard heights (I haven't measured).
The top piece threads into the filter ring of a Pentax SLR lens
(49mm accessory size). A step-down ring should allow using it
with Nikon lenses which take 52mm accessories

Assembly detail:
The legs screw into tapped holes in the metal top piece.
Loosening the screw on the left lets you rotate the filter ring assembly.

Ready to shoot: Copy area at maximum height is about 10x15
inches. Height of top piece is about 21 inches. Because of the angle
at which this photo was taken, the front legs of the Copi-pod look a
little closer together than they actually are. I think it's set up
for the field of view of a 50mm or 55mm lens on the SLR.
